After a very tense day of semi final action the CJCA teams will both be playing for trophies on the final day of the 57th South Island Primary Schools Tournament in Westport.
CJCA Red remained unbeaten with a fantastic win over a gallant Otago Country side who posted a very competitive 174 in their 40 overs – when CJCA Red lost its 6th wicket (8 wickets is All Out) at 115 the southerners had a sniff of victory but a sensational innings by Red skipper, Tom Turner 61 from 54 balls and a unbroken 7th wicket partnership with Jack Johnston of 63 saw the Christchurch lads home with 28 balls left. Tommorrow they will face Nelson who defeated South Canterbury in the other semi.
CJCA Black only had to chase 74 against Dunedin but on a pitch that was like a 5th day test wicket they needed all their skills of application and discipline to get them with extras top scoring with 38. Tommorrow they will face Canterbury Country who had a big win over Invercargill to gain their place in the final of the Derek Cockburn Trophy section.
Mid Canterbury posted a whopping 385 in their 40 overs to easily beat West Coast and will play Marlborough for the Neville Hoskyn Plate after they defeated home side Buller.
