The Christchurch Junior Cricket Association turned around recent small deficits by reporting a $13,993 cash surplus in the 2018/19 financial year at its 59th AGM held recently.
Along with solid funding results from charitable trust applications and Canterbury Cricket, the CJCA increased revenues from its activities leading to a positive result.
The Association hoped to continue its current core activities and look to work with its aligned organisations Canterbury Cricket and Christchurch Metro Cricket to improve efficiencies and cricket delivery in Christchurch.
The Association currently has approximately 2000 Primary and Intermediate aged cricketers involved in its regular Saturday competitions in addition to significant interschool and player development programmes. The lack of a cricket specific indoor training venue continues to limit the scale of development opportunities the Association is able to provide for its members in the short term. It is hoped that the new Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Centre on the site of the old Horticultural Hall can quickly be established to meet this need.
